Our first photo as a couple

On September 8, 2015, Melissa and Jon attended their first meeting as new members of the Young Friends Board for the Museum of Jewish Heritage, marking their first official encounter. At the end of the board's second meeting, which took place two months later, they started walking in the same direction and soon realized that they lived a mere 7 blocks apart. They walked and talked the whole way home.

In January of 2016, Melissa and Jon attended a UJA Young Lawyers function, another group to which they both belong. They ended up seated next to each other, and Melissa entertained Jon with her witty, sarcastic humor. He giggled all night long and Melissa thought, "hmm, I could get used to this."  A few weeks later, they had another museum event at which Melissa realized she had a crush on Jon. She sensed he was unaware of her interest (her intuition was correct), so she decided to take matters into her own hands, after discussing the situation with another member of the Museum Board. Later that night, Melissa sent a message to Jon on Facebook inviting him to Flywheel with her, as he had mentioned that he was considering doing a charity bike ride. While he passed on the Flywheel invitation, he did not hesitate to continue the conversation. Over the next few weeks, they talked constantly, realizing how much they had in common.

In March of 2016, at another board meeting. Jon immediately took the seat next to Melissa and lingered around at the end of the meeting, waiting to walk home with her. They walked home together and Jon asked Melissa out. Soon after, they had their first “official” date and, as they say, the rest is history...

Jon is very thankful that Melissa saw the potential between them and was enough of a go-getter to make it happen. Otherwise, he would never have fulfilled his dream of successfully co-parenting two adorable cats in an UWS apartment. Jon and Melissa are so incredibly grateful to have each other and can't wait for you to celebrate their love with them.
